Sailors Society, Southampton

The Sailors Society is a charity in Southampton and it is making a sea change in the way it raises money by opening its first coffee lounge,called BySea, in Portswood. All profits from the shop go towards the work of Sailors Society supporting seafarers around the world.

Total Design Joinery was commissioned to build the furniture for the cafe, which is sited in old containers at the Dock Yard Lock. It seemed obvious to go with a marine theme so we re-used wood from pallets and other natural sources.

We designed and built the counters, produce displays and the front and back bar to feature solid wood carcassing and surface tops with metal cladding for stability.
