Total Design Joinery has helped one of its long-term customers, The Southern Co-operative, bring a quality community food store, emphasising fresh and local produce, to Freshwater, Isle of Wight.
The Joinery aspect was part of a Total Design Group project which provided a turnkey service that also included project management, shop fitting, ceilings and installation plus all electrical work, including the design and implementation of customised LED lighting.
All of the Shelving, Display Units and Counters for this Concept Store were bespoke built following a lengthy process of specifying, designing and prototyping to make sure they achieved the fresh new merchandising approach required. The requirement was to create metal based units with joinery finishes spanned the store merchandising including Checkout Counters, Kiosk, Deli, Bakery, Produce, Wine and Spirits and two Post Offices.
Our specialist metal work skills allowed us to create these new style metal and wood units including some particularly challenging ones like the Mesh Fames Ceiling Mounted Displays above the Bakery units. The main challenge for all of these units was to achieve functionality which incorporated this unique wood element.
Other design concepts such as the Goal Posts, Hanging Deli Display Units and “Cloud” Visuals also required innovative designs to make sure the concepts would actually work.
